Dear all,
Nepal is one of the richest countries in terms of water resources, where more than 6000 rivers and falls flow down from highs Himalaya through mountain and Terai. However, Nepal has not yet been able to tap even one percent of potential electricity generation capacity in more than a century of hydropower development. As a cheap, renewal source of energy with negligible environmental impacts, small hydro power may have a significant role in Nepal’s energy supply.
Chhyangdi Hydropower Limited (CHPL) has successfully developed the Chhandi Khola Small hydro power project with a 2MW capacity in 2072 BS at the Lamjung District. It is supplying the energy to the national grid under the power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) through 33/11Kv substation at Udipur, Lamjung. This successful experience encouraged us to develop another project, expected to finish by 2076 B.S., in the same river as the Upper Chhandi Khola small hydro power project 4MW. Out of two running projects, CHPL will be a pioneer in the Nepalese hydro-power market.
I would like to thank to my dedicated team, confident investors, local stake holders, NEA, DOED, funding banks, then Bank of Kathmandu Ltd. but now Bank of Kathmandu Lumbini Ltd., & Kumari Bank Ltd, and all other well wishers without whom we would not have reached this stage. I look forward to your continuous support in future as well.
